L. Patrick Deering, Chairman Executive Committee of Riggs, Counselman, Michaels & Downes, Inc., came to RCM&D as Executive Vice President in 1983, became President and CEO in 1984, and Chairman in 1987. Mr. Deering, a CPA, was formerly the Managing Partner of the Baltimore Office of Coopers & Lybrand, a Big Six international accounting firm, and a member of their Executive Council. In 1988 he was honored by the American Institute of CPAs for his high level of public service.

Some of his current board memberships include: AAA Mid Atlantic, Inc. and Keystone Insurance Company, Baltimore City Foundation, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Charlestown Retirement Community, Inc., English Speaking Union, Keswick Multi-Care Center, Leadership-Baltimore County, Maryland Hospital Association, Sheridan Foundation and Thulman Eastern Corporation

Mr. Deering was an original member of the Greater Baltimore Committee and The Center Club. For a number of years he was trustee and/or officer of the Bryn Mawr School, St. Mary's Seminary and University, The Kennedy Institute, Harbor Hospital and Maryland Historical Society.
