Managing the Risk of Elopement in Long Term Care

RCM&D's Nancy Connelly and Katherine Miller will be speaking for the Beacon Institute on "Managing the Risk of Elopement in Long Term Care." The presentation will define elopement and explore its prevalence, regulatory issues surrounding it and associated risks. They will discuss recent cases and litigation, as well as liability exposure. The presentation will also explore types, characteristics and etiology of residents who elope and the factors related to elopement. Lastly, they will describe prevention tools and techniques in long term care, including evaluating for elopement risk.
