J. Kevin Carnell
With over 30 years of experience, Kevin has gained a broad perspective of the business world by blending his legal training, insurance knowledge, and operational focus. He applies this expertise across the firm as the Chief Legal Officer and Director of the Healthcare Division in addition to his role in directly supporting RCM&D’s clients.
Kevin’s responsibilities include providing consultation on the implementation of alternative risk financing programs, captive insurance company formation, and reinsurance negotiation. His specific focus is on the structuring and implementation of medical malpractice programs for hospitals and health systems. Kevin also assists clients with drafting/interpretation of policy language, insurance claim disputes, and when appropriate, related insurance regulations.
As one of the architects of RCM&D’s multi-disciplined consultative service model, Kevin was instrumental in developing the firm’s industry-specific practice areas, including the Healthcare Practice and Education Practice. Throughout his long-standing career, he has also managed the development of many of RCM&D’s value-added services for both fully-insured and self-insured clients.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Kevin is active in the community and throughout the industry. He serves on various committees for non-profit organizations in the area and is a past trustee and former Chairman of the Board of Friends School of Baltimore.
