With the continuous advancements in technology, the delivery of health information and healthcare services is rapidly changing. Telehealth practice in the US is expected to double within the next two years. The expansion of health care delivery across international borders via electronic means continues to grow. The increasingly evident use of mobile technology in today’s society is finding its way into the delivery of healthcare. Statistics show that providers are using mobile devices to collect, read, and monitor patient data and that consumers have high expectations for the delivery and management of their healthcare through mobile technology.

In this session, we will explore and define different variations of telemedicine (i.e., eHealth, teleheath, telemedicine, mHealth) and the associated potential exposures and risks. Obstacles to practicing via telemedicine and mHealth will be explored, including the current regulatory landscape, followed by risk management solutions for incorporating these methods of care delivery into current practice.
