22nd Annual Regatta

Sailing with a Purpose for Non-Profit Organizations

RCM&D will host their 22nd Annual Regatta to benefit mid-Atlantic based non-profit organizations on Friday, September 30, 2016.  The event will take place at the Downtown Sailing Center at the Baltimore Museum of Industry located at 1425 Key Highway from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“The RCM&D Regatta focuses on sailing with a purpose,” stated Katie Caple, Regatta Committee Chair and Vice President of Corporate Outreach for RCM&D.  “Each year, we invite non-profit organizations located in the mid-Atlantic to apply as beneficiaries and look forward to partnering with new recipients to help fund their programs.” This year, the fundraising efforts of the Regatta will benefit four organizations that provide critical programs and services to enrich the lives of children and families in need:  Big Brothers Big Sisters of York & Adams Counties; Family Services, Inc.; the Richmond Fisher House; and V-LINC, Inc.

Throughout the Regatta’s history for the past 22 years, corporate sponsors and RCM&D employees have joined together to raise more than $700,000 in funding with 100% of the proceeds donated directly to the beneficiaries.  This year, a total of $80,000 was raised for the four beneficiaries, who each will receive $20,000.

“We are proud to support these organizations by raising essential funds for their programs and helping to increase awareness of their missions,” stated Skip Counselman, Chairman and CEO of RCM&D. “The Regatta is a different kind of fundraiser bringing together our business partners, employees, beneficiaries and the community for one common cause, and that’s to help people in need and have a great time while doing it.”

The fundraising activities include year-round events at RCM&D’s regional offices and local community businesses, along with an online auction, culminating with the Regatta in the fall. All contributors and beneficiaries are invited to participate in the race. Sailors are placed on teams and paired with experienced captains from the Downtown Sailing Center, providing an exciting and unique opportunity to set sail on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

The races will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. while spectators cheer on the sailors and enjoy a variety of on-shore activities.  An awards ceremony will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to recognize corporate sponsors, present donations to each of the four beneficiaries and award trophies to the Regatta sailors.
