48% of Employers Offer Telemedicine Benefits – AMA Urges Med Schools to Start Teaching Telemedicine

A new study has shown that 48% of employer health plans now offer coverage for telehealth services. With healthcare costs constantly on the rise one can assume that employers and health insurers will begin pushing telehealth harder to achieve cost savings and improve patient satisfaction.  Additionally, the AMA issued a statement urging undergrad and graduate medical training schools to make Telemedicine part of the core curriculum.
