In the event your inbox resembles mine, cluttered with post holiday catch-up coupled with the disruption from inclement weather days, I wanted to make sure you have carefully reviewed the latest “action required” alert sent from the Maryland Office of Healthcare Quality (OHCQ) intended for all nursing home administrators.
By February 2, 2015, the OHCQ requires Maryland nursing homes to submit “their policies and procedures for resident access to and requests for medical records.”
See original transmittal dated December 23, 2014 for detailed information on what and how to submit.
It is important to note that facilities failing to submit their policies will be surveyed for compliance with this regulation. If your facility is identified as non-compliant, a citation will be issued, and your facility may be faced with a penalty up to $10,000.
