Each year, RCM&D chooses well-deserving local nonprofit organizations to be the recipients of our year-round fundraising and volunteer initiatives. The result of these endeavors is commemorated during our annual Regatta event, a delightful waterfront celebration hosted at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. Mark your calendars for this year’s event on Friday, September 12.
As we approach this year’s festivities, we are proud to shine a spotlight on one of our 2025 beneficiaries: Tuerk House, a Baltimore-based nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome addiction and reclaim their lives.
About Tuerk House
Founded in 1970, Tuerk House has been a cornerstone of addiction recovery in Baltimore for over 50 years. Their mission is to transform lives by offering help and hope for lasting recovery to individuals, families and communities in the Baltimore area affected by alcohol and drug addiction.
Tuerk House serves thousands of patients each year through a full continuum of care including crisis stabilization, residential treatment, outpatient services and long-term recovery support. In 2024 alone, the organization recorded 10,798 patients receiving care across its network of facilities. With an approach rooted in dignity, respect and the belief that recovery is possible for everyone, Tuerk House continues to be a beacon of hope for individuals and families seeking a path forward.
A Continuum of Care
Tuerk House offers a wide range of services designed to meet patients wherever they are on their recovery journey. Their integrated care model includes:
- Crisis Stabilization: Immediate, short-term intervention for individuals experiencing drug and/or alcohol use crises.
- Inpatient Detoxification: Medically supervised detox services that help patients safely manage withdrawal symptoms in a comforting environment.
- Residential Treatment: 24/7 structured care that provides a stable, therapeutic setting, helping patients build recovery skills and supportive networks at each stage of treatment.
- Outpatient Treatment: Flexible treatment options that allow patients to receive care while maintaining work, school or family responsibilities.
- Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP): Structured, part-time treatment providing a higher level of care than traditional outpatient services while allowing patients to live at home.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment: Evidence-based treatment that combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to support long-term recovery.
- Behavioral Health & Urgent Care Services: Integrated care that addresses co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorders.
- Peer Recovery Support: Certified peer recovery specialists provide mentorship, encouragement and lived-experience guidance throughout the recovery process.
- Pharmacy: On-site pharmacy services ensure timely access to prescribed medications as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Healing Communities, One Life at a Time
Tuerk House’s impact extends far beyond individual recovery. It strengthens families, neighborhoods and the broader Baltimore community.
