COLUMBUS, OHIO – Bob Cawley, president of RCM&D in Baltimore, Md., is the 2013-2015 chairman of Assurex Global. He succeeds Stefan Nill, CEO & managing partner of Leue & Nill in Dortmund, Germany.
Cawley was recently elected during the Global Conference and Shareholders’ Meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which boasted Assurex Global Partner firms from more than 30 countries. Assurex Global is the world’s largest privately held commercial insurance, risk management and employee benefits brokerage group. Celebrating 60 years in 2014, Assurex Global is an exclusive partnership of the most prominent independent agents and brokers in the world.

RCM&D has a rich history with Assurex Global. Along with Fred C. Church, Inc. in Lowell, Mass., RCM&D is one of two firms who have been Assurex Global Partners since the organization was formed in 1954. Cawley is also the third chairman to come out of RCM&D. Charles C. Counselman, Jr. served as chairman from 1962-1963 and Albert R. Counselman served from 1988-1989. No other Assurex Global Partner firm has produced three chairmen.

In addition to serving as Assurex Global chairman and president of RCM&D, Cawley is the president and co-founder of GB Charities, Inc., which provides elementary, middle school and upper school scholarships to disadvantaged children to attend parochial schools throughout the greater Baltimore area. Additionally, Cawley serves on the board of directors of Catholic Charities of Baltimore and the board of sponsors of the Sellinger School of Business of Loyola University Maryland. Cawley is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland.
Cawley was also honored last week as a 2013 recipient of the Baltimore County Good Scout Award. This award honors a local leader who exemplifies the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as evidenced by their outstanding commitment to community service and leadership.
As well as Cawley’s new role, Assurex Global named Tom Hughston, CEO of Roach Howard Smith & Barton in Dallas, Texas, as a new member to its multinational board of directors. Tom joined the firm in 1991 and was appointed to the board of directors in 1995. He specializes in commercial insurance production.
