Local Regatta Raises $100,00 for Regional Nonprofits

Baltimore, Md. – RCM&D, a leading independent risk management, insurance and employee benefits firm, held its 26th Annual Regatta on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Downtown Sailing Center/Baltimore Museum of Industry Pavilion. The event is the organization’s largest charitable initiative for nonprofits who serve the mid-Atlantic. This year, fundraising efforts and corporate sponsorships benefited five organizations that provide critical services for people in need within our community: Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, Share Food Program, Sportable, The Samaritan Women and Zaching Against Cancer Foundation.

The fundraising efforts raised $100,000 providing each nonprofit with a donation of $20,000. “The Regatta is a unique kind of fundraiser,” stated Katie Caple, Regatta Committee Chair and Vice President of Corporate Outreach for RCM&D. Leading up to the event, employees volunteered their time and resources to host a variety of internal and community-based fundraising activities to help reach the goal. And, employee advocates worked throughout the year with the beneficiaries to coordinate group volunteer outings for each of the organizations to boost awareness and engagement.

“We want to thank our corporate sponsors, Regatta committee members, employees and community partners for making our 26th year a success,” commented Katie Caple. More than 250 people participated on event day. Corporate sponsors, groups from the beneficiaries and employees competed in the sailing race on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor while onshore guests cheered them along, enjoyed a catered lunch, games, music and more.

Throughout the 26 year history of the Regatta, the RCM&D business community has come together to raise more than $1 million in funding with 100% of the proceeds donated directly to the beneficiaries. “At the center of RCM&D’s corporate culture is a commitment to the communities we serve. We are proud to support these organizations by raising essential funds for their programs and helping to increase awareness of their missions,” stated Skip Counselman, Chairman and CEO of RCM&D. “The Regatta brings together our business partners, employees, beneficiaries and the community for one common cause, and that’s to help people in need and have a great time while doing it.”

“We are really grateful to be one of the recipients of the funds raised by the RCM&D Regatta and thank the firm’s leadership and staff for their wonderful support and volunteer efforts for us and so many other nonprofits in the community throughout the year,” commented Steve Salem, President & CEO, Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.
