RCM&D to Host 26th Annual RCM&D Regatta Supporting Five mid-Atlantic Nonprofit Organizations

Teams Set Sail on Friday, September 13, 2019

RCM&D, a leading independent risk management, insurance and employee benefits firm, will hold its 26th Annual Regatta on Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Downtown Sailing Center/Baltimore Museum of Industry Pavilion on the Inner Harbor. Annually, RCM&D selects regional nonprofits as the beneficiaries of a year-long fundraising and community service initiative. Benefiting this year from corporate sponsorships, employee donations and volunteer activities will be 5 organizations that serve the mid-Atlantic region and beyond: Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, Share Food Program, Sportable, The Samaritan Women and Zaching Against Cancer Foundation.

“The Regatta is a unique kind of fundraiser,” stated Katie Caple, Regatta Committee Chair and Vice President of Corporate Outreach for RCM&D. Donations collected from a variety of internal and community-based fundraising and service events hosted by employees from the firm’s 5 offices are combined with corporate sponsorships to reach the goal of $100,000. “From donations to advocacy and volunteering, our employees and business associates establish meaningful, continuing partnerships with all the beneficiaries. These relationships often last long after the year has passed,” added Caple.

The culmination of the community service and fundraising is celebrated at the Regatta. The event brings together representatives from the beneficiaries and individuals they serve along with sponsors and employees for the opportunity to learn to sail, compete and take part in an afternoon celebration on Baltimore’s waterfront.

“We are really grateful to be one of the recipients of the funds raised by the RCM&D Regatta and thank the firm’s leadership and staff for their wonderful support and volunteer efforts for us and so many other nonprofits in the community throughout the year,” commented Steve Salem, President & CEO, Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.

“At the center of RCM&D’s corporate culture is a commitment to the communities we serve. We are proud to support these organizations by raising essential funds for their programs and helping to increase awareness of their missions,” stated Skip Counselman, Chairman and CEO of RCM&D.

In 2018, RCM&D was honored with the 44th Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Award for its 25 years of giving back to the community through the annual Regatta. The annual awards event, which was presented by the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), the Baltimore Development Corporation and the Mayor’s Office, honors businesses for their outstanding corporate leadership, commitment to community and dedication to improving the quality of life in Baltimore.

While the RCM&D Regatta is a private event, we extend an invitation to regional and industry media to join us and experience the excitement of the Regatta, learn more about this annual community service initiative and to meet the beneficiaries.  If you would like the opportunity to compete in the race, please contact Sarah Osmeyer at sosmeyer@rcmd.com or 410.427.6436.
