RCM&D’s 21st Annual Regatta Raised $75,000

RCM&D, a leading Baltimore-based risk management, insurance and benefits advisory firm, hosted their 21st Annual Regatta on Friday, October 17, 2014 from the Downtown Sailing Center located at the Baltimore Museum of Industry (1425 Key Highway, Baltimore, MD 21230) from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Each year, the Regatta benefits non-profits in the many communities served by RCM&D’s regional offices located throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

The 2014 Regatta raised $75,000 for three non-profit organizations: Cool Kids Campaign, Dragonfly Forest, and Good Shepherd Services.  Since its inception, the annual benefit event has raised close to $700,000 for over 38 community non-profits.

The Regatta is RCM&D’s pinnacle corporate wide philanthropic event.  The benefit event celebrates Baltimore’s history as a port city, provides a unique sailing competition experience and fun-filled day on the water for the non-profit communities, corporate and individual sponsors and their families to come together in the spirit of giving.

All funds go directly to the non-profits to support their missions.  The $67,500 fundraising goal for this year was exceeded and the total amount raised was $75,000.  In addition to the corporate Regatta sponsorships, the RCM&D team and regional businesses support the non-profits through a variety of fundraising efforts throughout the year, including an online silent auction.

“We have the greatest respect for these three beneficiary organizations who work daily to help meet the most challenging needs of the children in our communities,” said RCM&D President Bob Cawley. “We are proud to support these organizations by raising essential funds and increasing awareness of their missions.   It is rewarding to experience our team working together, on a volunteer basis, demonstrating the importance of giving back to our communities and fostering our culture of collaboration.”

The Downtown Sailing Center runs the races, providing the opportunity for first-time sailors to experienced watermen to participate.  The races were held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on the Inner Harbor while the event guests cheered on the sailors and enjoyed on-land celebration activities.  The event culminated with an awards ceremony honoring the non-profit beneficiaries, sponsors and the winning Regatta teams.
