RICHMOND, Virginia; (November 21, 2013) – RCM&D (www.rcmd.com), one of the nation’s largest independent commercial insurance advisory firms and based in Baltimore, Maryland, recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Richmond, Virginia, office. With a theme of “Giving Back,” employees and clients recognized 10 years with community-oriented activities.
To further their commitment to the community, 15 RCM&D employees volunteered November 7–8 at Hanover Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers spent the days painting a home in Beaverdam, Virginia, for a family that expects to move in prior to the holidays in December. Habitat is an interfaith nonprofit Christian organization, committed in partnership with qualified families and community volunteers to create and sell homes with no-profit mortgages. To date, the Hanover Habitat for Humanity has built 46 new homes since its founding in 1990.
“We wanted to celebrate our deep roots in the community by giving back to organizations that help others. While we are extremely proud of our success in Richmond over the past decade, we are also deeply grateful for our colleagues and clients, some of whom represent nonprofits,” says John L. “Mac” McElroy, III, managing director of Virginia operations for RCM&D.
The Richmond office also hosted clients and employees at the Virginia War Memorial on November 7 for a festive cocktail reception, which was catered by Positive Vibe Café. This organization provides food service training opportunities to the disabled in the Richmond area.
Guests were treated to PUPS chocolates from Gearharts as they left for the evening. In keeping with the “Giving Back” theme, Gearharts donates 5% of all PUPS sales to Companions for Heroes, which matches rescue pets as companion animals to the nation’s wounded veterans.
