Registration is open for the 2019 BLocal BUILD College.

The program provides training for small, local, minority-owned, woman-owned and/or disadvantaged Baltimore-based businesses in the design and construction industries.

RCM&D, a leading independent risk management, insurance and employee benefits firm, and supporter of the BLocal program, is proud to share that registration is now open for the spring 2019 BLocal BUILD College. The program, which is an initiative of the Johns Hopkins University and Health System, provides training for small, local, minority-owned, woman-owned and/or disadvantaged Baltimore-based businesses in the design and construction industries.

Participants in the BLocal BUILD College will engage in a 13-session training program focusing on topics such as construction, design, architectural drawings, bidding, legal and contracting considerations, change management, surety and bonding, safety and quality management, insurance and more. All sessions will be presented by local business leaders in various industries. RCM&D’s Director of Surety, Stephen Mainello and Senior Client Executive, Richard Shaw have been heavily involved in the BLocal BUILD College since 2016, contributing two sessions annually— Strategic Planning and Surety & Insurance.

The BLocal BUILD College also provides an opportunity for firms to network and develop relationships with industry experts who can serve as advisors throughout the growth of their organization.

“The BLocal BUILD College is a great opportunity for small, local Baltimore-based businesses to learn from those who have built success in this industry already,” said Mainello. “For RCM&D and the other companies, it is a great way to give back to the industry and to support the greater Baltimore community,” added Richard Shaw.

Firms that have been in business for at least two years with a minimum gross revenue of $250,000, may complete the application for the spring 2019 BLocal BUILD College by the deadline— January 25, 2019. Applicants must be willing to participate in Wednesday evening classes, which will be held once a week for four months.
