James Shewey

James joined RCM&D in 2006, bringing a depth of commercial insurance experience to his position. In his current role as the firm’s Market Leader for the Richmond office, James is responsible for working with the team to generate new sales opportunities and revenue growth in the geographic market. In addition to his role as Market Leader, James also serves as RCM&D’s Education Practice Leader, providing strategic direction and service alignment for K-12 schools, colleges and universities and consortiums.

James’ background in risk management, insurance brokerage and contractual risk has provided him with a well-versed understanding of the various risks facing any organization. James takes a consultative approach to discover existing exposures and emerging issues while using his expertise to develop tailored solutions.

Outside of the firm, James is well respected throughout the insurance industry. He is a two-time Power Broker award winner by Risk & Insurance Magazine for his exceptional client service in the education industry.

Before joining RCM&D, James worked with a local brokerage firm and also in personal lines with a national firm.
