The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Safe + Sound Week is August 13-17, 2018. The national event focuses on raising awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs. Regardless of size or industry type, all companies are encouraged to join the effort and participate in promoting important workplace safety programs, including those focused on management leadership, worker participation, and a systemic approach to finding and fixing workplace hazards.
Safety and health programs are an important part of how businesses operate and keep employees safe every day. Additionally, a strategic focus on safety programs can help businesses find new ways to recognize unsafe conditions and implement control measures, ultimately leading to a continual improvement of safety conditions in the workplace. A video posted by the US Department of Labor indicates the top 5 reasons to participate in this nationwide event:
- Prevent Workplace Injuries and Illnesses
- Increase Worker Satisfaction
- Reduce Costs
- Improve Productivity
- Send Workers Home, Safe + Sound
